Monitrice Services

  • A monitrice is a midwife who supports hospital birthers by providing doula-like care with added clinical expertise. While acting as a doula, a monitrice can monitor your baby's heart rate, check dilation, and assess your labor progress at home before transitioning to the hospital. This role offers the emotional and physical support of a doula, combined with a midwife’s medical knowledge, helping you stay informed and empowered throughout your hospital birth experience. Due to the demands of my midwifery practice, I am currently offering monitrice doula services on a very limited basis. Priority is given to families planning a hospital birth who are seeking an unmedicated experience but for various reasons are not candidates for out-of-hospital birth.

  • What's Included:

    • Two prenatal visits at my office where we discuss a variety of things including your options, birth plan, comfort techniques, spinning babies exercises, nutrition, and more.

    • Unlimited support via text, phone, and email.

    • 24/7 on-call availability for your birth from 37-42 weeks gestation.

    • Active in-person labor and birth support

    • Immediate postpartum support in the hospital to help get you settled/comfortable after birth.

    • Two postpartum visits in your home including belly binding, lactation support, maternal mental and physical health assessments, and infant weight assessment.

If you're curious about my services, the first step is to schedule a phone consultation. It’s a chance for us to connect, answer your questions, and see if we’re the right fit for one another.

  • Total monitrice package is $3,800

A 50% retainer is due upon signing of contract with the remainder due by 32 weeks gestation unless other payment arrangements are made.

I’m Carrot-approved! Many of my clients have also received reimbursement for doula fees through other insurance or workplace benefit plans. I’m happy to provide detailed receipts to support your reimbursement requests if you have doula coverage.

“Ashley was my doula for my fourth baby and she was such a help emotionally and at the end physically. My baby wasn’t positioned right and she came over and helped reposition her and she was quickly born that afternoon. I can’t highly recommend her enough! Thank you, Ashley!”
